Reignite lights up Twydall

The Reignite project is changing lives in Twydall. The target of helping 30 people by the end of March to improve their chances of employment, education and self-esteem was passed. In addition, a comprehensive survey has been completed covering all businesses that are in Twydall, Gillingham Business Park and Rainham town centre.

Reignite aims to remove barriers to employment whatever they may be. It has come about thanks to finances from SEEDA and EU secured by a partnership of Medway Council and Church in Society. Here are some of the successes so far: (more…)

Clocking On Work

Church in Society in Twydall is finding out how it can involve businesses in the Reignite programme.

It has employed Robert Hawkwood Limited to research every type of business in the area, from one-man-bands to multinationals. The aim is to see whether: current staff can benefit from additional training; there are likely to be any future vacancies that can be matched to local people who are looking for work; the business needs guidance or support to expand or to survive.

The database has now been completed, a percentage of local companies are being contacted to see how Reignite can help them.

Are you good with numbers?

Do you think you could earn some money doing some book-keeping or basic accounts?

Reignite Twydall is hoping to run a course on book-keeping, at NVQ level 2 or 3. A certified independent trainer will be used. We need around 15 people to make the course worthwhile. If you are interested, please call 01634 388433 or email: don@churchinsociety.org

Are you inspired by the story of a new group being started? In the last two years, many different clubs have begun, or existing groups been given support, through the ‘Putting Twydall First’ programme: lunch-clubs, sports clubs, after school clubs, and of course the gardening club. All are run by local people, meeting the need locally. Other clubs are in the pipeline. If you need advice about setting up a group, please contact us.
